Do you hear the bells? Tax Preparation Tips for Those with Tax ID Numbers
By IRM
Do you hear the bells ringing? Not the church bells, but the bells from the offices of Liberty Tax Services announcing tax season is here! Martee Pierson, Liberty Tax Director of Diversity Marketing, shared some key points with Saborhr for the Tax ID number holder and Hispanic Community of Hampton Roads.
Remember, Tax ID holders that January 1st through April 15th signals the season to complete tax forms for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Everyone must pay taxes. It’s the law of the United States. Speak with someone at one of our Hampton Roads Liberty Tax Services offices to complete the proper tax forms. But first STOP! and look for the official seal “Orgullosamente Sirviendo a la Comunidad Hispana” (Proudly serving the Hispanic Community) on the office window. Offices displaying this seal have partnered with our Corporate Hispanic Initiative and received training. The seal also indicates that a Spanish speaker is available to help you.
If you don’t have a Tax ID and wish to get one, a Tax ID application will be processed for you. Other information Ms. Pierson want you to know:
- A Tax ID is processed for free by Liberty Tax franchisees
- A Tax ID is not a social security number
- A Tax ID number allows you to open bank accounts, buy a car and car insurance, and establish credit in the United States
- When you process your tax papers with a Tax ID you can claim dependents living in Mexico or Canada
- You can process tax papers for the present year and up to three previous years
- Completing the simple tax forms numbers 1040A or 1040EZ start at a cost of $95.00 but cost can go up if you need more complex tax forms
- Participating in the tax process is an excellent way of proving length of time in the United States which is a requirement for citizenship
When you visit a Liberty Tax office to get a Tax ID number be prepared with two, of others, documents listed below if you don’t already hold a passport or an active Visa:
- An identification-required photograph
