Jazz Prodigy Engages Youth at the Attucks Theater

Esperanza Spalding, acclaimed as a Jazz prodigy, is bringing her unique brand of music to the Attucks Theatre on Wednesday, May 13, 2009.  Spalding will be conducting an outreach activity with area youth ages 11 to 17 years of age from 3:30pm - 4:30pm prior to her evening concert.

Blessed with uncanny instrumental music chops, a multi-lingual voice, and natural beauty, the 23 year old prodigy will share her experiences as an artist.

At 7:30pm you are invited to return to the Attucks to see her perform live as she shifts smoothly from classical jazz to soul or pop, while her music holds on to the jazz base, and brings in Afro Cuban percussions.

Vouchers for performance tickets will be distributed to students in attendance.  Vouchers entitle one student and up to (2) guests to purchase performance tickets for $10. Student must accompany guests to the performance.
