Where To Begin
Local Career Fairs At least 200 prospective employees and approximately 20 actively hiring businesses attended Hampton Road's first Hispanic Job Fair on Feb. 23. Artemis Latin Staffing and Selecta 1050 partnered to bring the event to Newport News. Boddie-Noell, parent company of Hardee's Restaurants, and Basnight Land & Lawn served as the event's title sponsors. "I was very happy with the event," said Selecta 1050's Dave Bowling. Selecta 1050 staff were on hand to translate when needed, and the radio station broadcast live from 9 a.m. until noon. Maria Rodriguez, owner of Artemis Latin Staffing, said the event's location near the interstate at Point Plaza Hotel & Conference Suites allowed for easy access and ensured a smooth and successful event. Planning for the Job Fair began last August. Another Job Fair is in the works, though a date and venue have not yet been determined.
