"Como La Flor: The Selena Musical," is the story of the young Tejana artist, Selena Quintanilla-Perez who became a musical success in the world of Tejano music. Selena was slain at the young age of 23 while at the peak of her career.“Como La Flor” stars Andréa Gomez a 23-year-old student at Old Dominion University, majoring in music education. The production is one-woman musical tribute to the singer, her life and music. The mix of music such as No Me Queda Mas, Amor Prohibido, I Could Fall in Love, monologues and material spoken by Selena herself taken from interviews are sure to keep the fans engaged.Norfolk native, Philip Odango, brings to life this beautiful portrayal through his “Como La Flor” screenplay. Odango expresses his passion for the play stating “theatre is a magical dialogue between the art and the audience, another way of telling a story; Como La Flor tells a story of a young girl with aspirations, love for her family, love for life and her passion for music.”With the support of local business and positive responses from the community, “Como La Flor” is highly anticipated.
