PPSEV to Discount Routine STD ScreeningsMuch has been made of the recent Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) study showing that one in four teenage girls in the United States have at least one sexually transmitted disease (STD). Furthermore, the eastern region of Virginia has the highest STD rate per person in the entire state.Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Virginia (PPSEV) has made it even easier for Hampton Roads residents to ensure they are not contributing to these statistics. In honor of April's designation as National STD awareness Month, PPSEV offers a 10 percent discount on screenings for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis and the blood HIV test. The CDC recommends that all sexually active women under age 25 be screened for Chlamydia at least once per year, and all sexually active men and women should be routinely screened for STDs annually.
