Blow Out the Birthday Candles for Opportunityby IRMBirthday celebration, July 11, 2009, for Guatemalan Sandra Mueller will brighten the future for many at St. Patrick Catholic School and Physicians for Peace. In hard economic times, Mrs. Mueller has turned her birthday party into a fundraiser. The event will raise funds for tuition scholarships at St. Patrick and free dental help for the needy through Physicians for Peace. Active in both not-for-profit organizations, Mrs. Mueller’s birthday wishes illuminates the term, “paying it forward.” “This is a significant birthday, turning 50, and I want to remember it for something more than blowing out the candles. I’m not a rich woman but I want to help others.” Sandra Mueller said. The event will take place at St. Patrick Catholic School at 1000 Bolling Avenue in Norfolk on July 11, 5-8pm. The community has pledged their pro bono collaboration for the grand affair. An “Adults Night Out” extravaganza promises wine and food tasting compliments of El Deportista, Mangos, and California Dough Boy’s Pizza. And you can step to the free salsa lessons by Norfolk’s Mambo Room Latin Dance Studio. Flashback 70’s band will be in the mix with DJ Mark.
